Back In Toronto Again

So this is a very quick update from Geoffrey-Glen. I’m in Toronto on business once again and starting to book gigs at the local honky-tonks. I’ve got a brand-new country jumbo acoustic not unlike this one: http://74.52.120.66/~jogila/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/picture-152.png courtesy of www.long-mcquade.com/ the only local music shop you should consider, trust me and them, and I’m starting to stack up the solo gigs. Hopefully I can coerce some fiddle players or lap-steel or slide players to try and follow the 4 chord arrangements, it’s not as easy as it sounds, folks, and every drop you drop in the hat repays these mighty warriors or at least subsidizes them. This Saturday I’ll be at the Tranzac club on Brunswick ave. at 10 pm. It’s 10 seconds south of my first real job in T.O. ca. 1983 at the by-the-way-lick’n-chicken-cafe (not recommended – I got fired for cartooning but more later if requested) and why I didn’t bypass falafel burns and go straight to the southern cross room probably has more to do with my inexperience at the time and large New Zealander/Australian expats not interested in my nonsense though I ended up with a couple kiwis in my MTL. crew. Everything in it’s own time, and this time is this Saturday. If I had known they liked pantomime, I might have been on board sooner. Now that I think about it, I did arrive there briefly in the 90′s when Paul Hogan hung out and I was actually on the publicity board for a year…
