The Marshalls in Montreal and Toronto June Jamboree

And now, a word from Geoffrey-Glen Marshall to all you fine folks:

Well the sweet langour of summer continues unabated, and with it a couple of special Marshalls shows. As you may know, I’ve been hard at work honing my skills on the hard streets of Hogtown. In addition to the usual Honky Tonks, I’ve had the pleasure of playing a bakery, a pinball parlour, a flower shop, a senior’s residence and a football league aftergame party.

This weekend, the 23rd of June, I’m catching a train back to Montreal to play my favourite stage – the Wheel Club in N.D.G. For those of you who’ve never been, it’s just below Sherbrooke, downstairs at 3373 Cavendish.

The next day I trek all the way back so I can play the Cloak and Dagger club Monday the 25th of June at 394 College street in Toronto.

Did I mention there will be a full band at both shows? So…where’s the tour bus?

The simple answer is I’ve managed to complete my mission of having two versions of the Marshalls, each based in its respective city. I’ve had the privilege and pleasure to work with some of the best musicians both cities have to offer, and it won’t stop there. Next I’m going to start digging up talent in Ottawa, and work my way East. So far so good.

It makes me pleased as punch that I can provide people in both cities fine Marshalls music without having to break the bank (and the environment) on tanks of gasoline. We don’t have a solar powered airship just yet, but I’m working on it.

I also wanted to take a second to say I’ve been learning new (old) songs hand over fist, adding tunes from Townes van Zandt, Gram Parsons, more Jimmie Rogers, and many others. If you’re in and around Montreal or Toronto over the weekend, be sure to drop in and give us a listen.

Looking forward to seeing y’all!

Yours truly in music,
Geoffrey-Glen Marshall
